Title: Business Development, Marketing and Sales Officer
Location: Pietermaritzburg
Direct Reporting Line: CEO/Executive Director


Job Purpose: The Business Development, Marketing and Sales Officers (BDMSO) is responsible for the development and execution of strategies to increase business for the Foundation and incubates. Duties include the identification of profitable business opportunities, securing sound business deals and converting leads to sales. The BDMSO will be required to research, identify leads and establish strategic partnerships.


Qualifications: Either a tertiary qualification in business
development/marketing/similar with at least three years experience
or 5 years’ experience without tertiary qualification. Applications
should indicate where they increased sales volume for their current or former employer. Experience 3 years if applicant has tertiary qualification 5 years if applicant does not have tertiary qualification skills:

• Developing and sustaining solid relationships with Foundation
and Incubatee stakeholders and customers
• Analyzing customer feedback data to determine whether
customers are satisfied with the Foundation and Incubatee
• Providing insight into product development and competitive
• Analyzing financial data and developing effective strategies to
reduce costs and increase profits
• Conducting market research to identify new business
• Collaborating with Foundation executives to determine the
most viable, cost-effective approach to pursue new business
• Meeting with potential funders/investors to present the
Foundation’s offerings and negotiate business deals
• Identification of target markets and market positioning
• Analyse customer insights, consumer trends and changes in
market demand
• Draft and implement marketing plans for incubator and
• Establish route to local and international markets for incubatee
• Lead the execution of marketing programmes by leveraging on
internal support and external collaboration
• Assists incubatees in presenting marketing pitches
• Establish and implement sales targets for incubator and
• Input into website design for incubatees
• Periodic update of website for incubator and incubatees
